How are the tires classified?

Classified by tire structure

Tires are classified according to their structure and are classified into the current widely used conditions. They can be divided into two types: bias tires and radial tires.

Bias tires are widely used in trucks and vans in China. For example, 650-16-10 tires used in Beijing 1041 cars and 750-14-8 tires used in North Travel Vans are bias tires. Radial tires are mostly used in cars. The 185/70R13 tires used in the Santana sedan produced by the Shanghai Volkswagen Factory, the P215/75R15 tires used in Beijing Cherokee, and the 175/70R13 tires used in the FAW Jetta sedan are radial tires.

Classified by tire size

Tires are classified according to their size. Generally, they refer to tires with a section width of 17 in. (inches, 1 in=25.4 mm). These tires are giant tires; tires with a section width of 17 in. or less and 10 in. are tires; Tires with a section width of 10 in or less are small and medium-sized tires.

Classified by car type

Tires can be classified into eight types according to the type of vehicle. Namely: PC - car tires; LT - light truck tires; TB - trucks and passenger cars; AG - agricultural tires; OTR - engineering tires; ID - industrial tires; AC - aircraft tires; MC - motorcycle tires.
